Safe Flea And Tick Removal Using Diatomaceous Earth

Yikes, all of a sudden one of my rats had sores all over his body and he was itching like mad. As i put him under the light and inspected him closely i could see little bugs. Yuck. This gave me the heebie geebies all night long.

I'm not quite sure how this happened. I don't use bedding or food blocks which are common ways for bug transport. I instead give my rats a few fresh paper towels or pieces of Kleenex every day to make a clean bed and then i toss them out the next day when i wipe down their cage. (Their cage is in my office and I can not stand the smell of pee so i clean their cage daily. Plus they are happier with a clean cage.)

To make a long story short and help you solve your flea or tick problem. Get yourself some Diatomaceous Earth. Keep it on hand. You want it to be "food grade."

Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring fine powder composed of crushed fossils. This incredible substance is desiccant. When used externally it destroys the waxy shell of fleas and ticks causing dehydration. Food grade diatomaceous earth contains 15 trace minerals including calcium, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, phosphorous and selenium. You can use it as a safe and effective organic wormer and to get rid of internal parasites.

To use externally you sprinkle it on your furry friends coat from below the ears on through the back. Rub it in. Do it outside or keep them moving. It's a very fine powder and you do not want to inhale it or have your pet inhale it. So keeping them moving away from the cloud of dust helps prevent this.

You can use it on all your furry four legged friends. I treated my dogs, cats and rats all in the same day and any favorite places they like to lay.

Good luck and cheers to you for looking for a safer healthier alternative. Oh yes, i almost forgot. The pet store owner who sold me my diatomaceous earth said it can even be used on humans to get rid of lice. Don't take my word for it though, search it for yourself to be double sure.
