"Big Oil wants to drill in the Polar Bear Seas of the Arctic. This would be disastrous.
These seas are home beluga, bowhead and grey whales, as well as 20% of the earth’s polar bear population, ice seals and birds that migrate from six continents.
Turning these seas into an industrial drilling zone would have a catastrophic effect on wildlife, making it difficult for them to mate, birth their young and feed. And an oil spill in this area would be impossible to clean up: the seas are dark two months out of the year, covered with deep sea ice and subject to hurricane-force winds.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is about to issue their recommendations on this drilling proposal. They have the power to stop it. Tell them to use this power and recommend that the Polar Bear Seas be kept safe from destructive oil drilling."
