It is a movie that takes a hard look at where our food comes from.
This is a time in America when we are wanting the truth. It's hard to make educated choices in our lives if we don't open our eyes. Some people don't want America to see this movie. I'm personally greatful that there are people willing to risk it all to get the truth out. Then we as consumers and parents can make our own informed opinions and decisions. We are the voice for our children! It is up to us to demand healthier food choices. There's a small handfull of companies running our country. They are making the decisions. Unfortunately the decisions they are making are not in our best interests they are in the interest of making money. The impact upon generations to come could be astronomical if we don't wake up and demand changes now. There are other voices to join out there speaking out on behalf of everyone's option for healthy food. Food, Inc was an academy award nominee for best documentary feature.

Where does your food really come from?
How healthy is your food? What are we really feeding our kids?
This is a topic that is popping up everywhere with good reason.
We should know what's in our food and were it comes from.
If you can't pronounce the ingredients on the label you probably shouldn't be eating it.
There's a new show on ABC called "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution".
I think it's a great show.
He's trying to change the menus in schools to include more healthier foods.
This is a great show and it could be beneficial to watch with your children.
Simple tips to eating healthier and reducing your environmental impact:
- Shop local. Do you have a local food co-op you could join? Local food co-ops carry mostly local foods with a smaller price mark up. If there's no co-op available ask your mainstream grocery stores to carry more local organic foods.
- Eat more organic fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat whats in season.
- Grow your own vegetable garden outside or inside in pots. Teach your children the importance of knowing how to grow their own food. Get them involved. If they have participated in choosing the seeds or plants, watering, taking care of and providing love to their plants they will be more apt to eating the vegetables they grew. Fruits and vegetables locally harvested have more life energy and nutritional content available in them than an item that was transported around the world.
- Shop your local farmers markets.
- Keep your cubboards and fridge stocked with healthy choices.
- Eat everything in moderation.
- Drink lots of filtered water.
- Eat smaller portions.
- Learn about Genetically modified foods so you can make an informed choice.
Take the time to enjoy and acknowledge what you are eating, thank your food.
Respect yourself, your planet and your food.
